The South Sangamon Water Commission Board said at a recent meeting that plant reprogramming has been completed, which will allow plant operators to log on remotely to start pumps and monitor activity.
This new feature may help avoid boil orders due to insufficient pressure, which happened in early November.
Managers also reported progress in ongoing adjustments being made to phosphate feed rates, with plans to hire Water Solutions to perform testing in the future.
The commission also discussed plans for a new logo. Art teachers at Chatham and New Berlin High Schools were contacted about the project and expressed interest in inviting students to submit design ideas.
The EPA sent the commission a letter recently stating that the plant is in violation of EPA regulations due to its inability to maintain pressure on the main pumps. The commission already has been moving forward with plans to acquire a hydrostatic tank and plans to submit permit applications.
