The Jerseyville City Council agreed to create a not-for-profit corporation, the “Jerseyville Economic Development Council Inc.," at a recent meeting.

The council voted and approved the development of this council and authorized the mayor to take all necessary action and sign any documents needed to bring the new council to fruition.

The council then voted on an initial board of directors for the new organization and approved it unanimously: William Russell, chairman, president and director; Jeff Soer, treasurer and director; William Strang, secretary and director; Alan Karcher, director; and James Hoefert, director.

The council completed its discussion of the new economic-development entity by approving its bylaws.

Also of note at the meeting was a tourism-grant petition for $1,000 that JCBA presented to the council that would help fund the Hometown Christmas Celebration. The council voted unanimously to approve the petition.
