Dist. 47 GOP Senate hopeful Tracy joins Kasich's Illinois campaign team

Kasichendorsement

State Senate Dist. 47 GOP candidate and former state House member Jil Tracy recently endorsed Ohio Gov. John Kasich for president and joined the Illinois Kasich for America leadership team as co-chair, one of a growing number of current and former Illinois legislators supporting Kasich.

"Gov. Kasich's leadership in Ohio really paid off for his state, and other Midwestern states have taken notice," Tracy said in a statement. "He dug Ohio out of a deep fiscal hole without raising taxes and created a positive environment for investment and job creation again. He led the effort to pass the first balanced federal budget in a generation, and he can do it again. Illinois voters are looking for a leader with a record of results, and I'm confident that Gov. Kasich is that leader."

Like Tracy, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Commissioner Joseph Mohorovic also endorsed Kasich for president and joined Illinois Kasich for America as co-chair.

Kasich released a statement thanking Tracy and Mohorovic for their support, and welcomed them to the Illinois team.

"It's a pleasure to welcome Rep. Jil Tracy and Joseph Mohorovic to the team," Kasich said. "I'm grateful for their support and their willingness to share the insights they've gleaned from years of public service. It's exciting to see our network of supporters in Illinois grow broader and stronger every day."

Kasich recently received another endorsement from former U.S. Rep. Ray LaHood (R-IL). LaHood also served as U.S. secretary of transportation from 2009 to 2013.

Kasich’s ability to solve Ohio’s financial crisis is undoubtedly a prized asset to Illinois' current legislators as they grapple with the state’s budget impasse.

Tracy represented Illinois’ District 94 from 2006 to 2015, serving on the Consumer Protection, Local Government, Aging, Rural Economic Development, Higher Education, Juvenile Justice Reform, and Transportation & Motor Vehicles committees.

Tracy ran for lieutenant governor of Illinois in 2014 with State Sen. Kirk Dillard, losing to current Gov. Bruce Rauner in the primary.

Kasich is the only governor left in the Republican primary race for president.
