Godfrey board reviews policies for billboard use

The village of Godfrey Community Planning, Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee met June 13 to discuss policies pertaining to the use of billboards to promote village events

January 13, 2016

William Catalano, Director of Economic Development and Brand Marketing, called the meeting of the Community Planning, Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee of the Village of Godfrey to order at 6:05 p.m., January 13, 2016, at the Godfrey Village Hall, 6810 Godfrey Road, Godfrey, Illinois.

ROLL CALL:

Present: Monica Bristow, Sharon O’Neal, Karen McAtee, Jennifer Russell,

Mark Stewart, and Linda Wheaton.

Absent: Tom Long and Jim Mager.

Others Present: Mary Mager and Trustee Springman

Public present: Cherie Schroeder, Abbey Inc. of Godfrey will address the Committee after the reports.

William Catalano, Director of Economic Development and Brand Marketing, asked for approval of the December 9, 2015 minutes. Monica Bristow moved for the approval of the December 9, 2015 minutes, seconded by Sharon O’Neal.

Poll of Commercial: Ayes-6, Nays, Absent-2. Motion carried.

BRANDING – BILLBOARDS/BANNERS/MEDIA & FAÇADE IMPROVEMENT LAUNCH

Monica Bristow moved to consideration banner Design/Billboard Design

– Unveiling to a later time on the agenda, when representative arrives, seconded by Sharon O’Neal. Poll of Commercial: Ayes-6, Nays, Absent-2. Motion carried.

William Catalano, Director of Economic Development and Brand Marketing, explained the cost of use of $300 per month for Billboards for highlighting Village events, such as 25 Years Anniversary and Great Corn Maze. The

Committee discussed using billboards thru out the area for promotions of events. William Catalano, Director of Economic Development and Brand Marketing, will be obtain information on outside community billboards cost per month and yearly.

Cherie Schroeder, Abbey Inc. of Godfrey, Illinois presented a presentation on proposed layouts for banners advertising the Village. The Committee discussed making changes to the Branding Marketing Slogan, tag line, colors, use of current symbol or other symbols. Monica Bristow moved to give authorization to present the proposal for design cost for banner design from Abby Inc., Godfrey, Illinois to the February 1, 2016 Committee Meeting, seconded by Sharon O’Neal. Poll of Commercial: Ayes-6, Nays, Absent-2. Motion carried.

MARKETING WEBSITE

William Catalano, Director of Economic Development and Brand Marketing, reported on the Marketing Website and is in the process to establishing a new website for marketing.

Promotion Video – Route 66 – Ryan Hanlon – discussion to finish the marketing video for promoting the Village of Godfrey at a proposed cost just under $20,000.

COMMERCIAL FAÇADE IMPROVEMENT PLAN - UNVEILING

William Catalano, Director of Economic Development and Brand Marketing, presented an update of the Commercial Façade Improvement Plan. The Village will schedule morning and evening events to present the unveiling to the businesses. Locations were discussed.

NEW BUSINESS:

William Catalano, Director of Economic Development and Brand Marketing, presented proposals for options for businesses to apply for the demolition of structures or delict areas.

Discussion of Bike Trail and connectors for Parks and Business District.

Funding for development will request a Master Plan at an estimate cost of $25,000. Monica Bristow moved to present the proposals for support for funding for development of a Master Plan for Bike Trails, seconded by Sharon O’Neal. Poll of Commercial: Ayes-6, Nays, Absent-2. Motion carried.

William Catalano, Director of Economic Development and Brand Marketing, presented the request for projects for the Capital Projects Committee: Completion of Lars Hoffman Crossing; Storm Sewer Plan; Parks Development – Connector Roadway for Glazebrook Park; and Baseball field lighting project.

Sharon O’Neal moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:28 p.m., seconded by Monica Bristow. Poll of Committee: Ayes-6, Nays-0, Absent-2. Motion carried.
