Godfrey committee addresses drainage ditch concern

The village of Godfrey Public Safety Committee met June 6 to direct the Public Works Department to place a rock in the North Humber Road drainage ditch to eliminate the standing water.

The Village of Godfrey Public Safety Committee is located at 6810 Godfrey Road, Godfrey, IL 62035.

Public Safety Committee

June 6, 2016

Chairman Williams called the Public Safety Committee meeting of

June 6, 2016, to order at 6:00 p.m. at the Godfrey Town Hall, 6810 Godfrey

Road, Godfrey, Illinois.

Roll Call: Present: Johnes, McAtee, Springman, Stewart, Stumpf, Williams

Absent: None

Chairman Williams asked for approval of the minutes of the May 2, 2016

meeting. Trustee Johnes moved for the approval of the May 2, 2016 minutes,

seconded by Trustee McAtee. Poll of Committee: Ayes-5, Nays-0, Absent-0.

Motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENT:

Herbert Mueggenberg, 4701 Village Drive, addressed his concerns with

drainage in back yards of lots in Colonial Drive.

Edward and Benjamin Hamberg, 1008 Logan Drive, addressed their concerns

with the traffic on Logan Drive and Homer stop sign. They asked the Board to

assist in controlling the safety problem (Vehicle running stop sign). Chairman

Williams reported that the Village will look into the safety problem.

OLD BUSINESS:

ESDA COMMITTEE UPDATE – CHRIS SICHRA

Chris Sichra, ESDA Coordinator, presented a report on Monthly activity with

the ESDA Committee. William Catalano, Director of Economic Development

and Brand Marketing

has completed the required training and will be attending a 2 day course for

the Public Information Officer. The Emergency service radio is up and running.

NO PARKING FRANCIS DRIVE – JENNIFER HERRING- 2809 FRANCIS

Jennifer Herring, 2809 Francis Drive, addressed her concerns with the

placement of the NO Parking Signage on Francis Drive. Ms. Herring asked the

Board to reconsider the Ordinance. Dana Redman 2812 Francis Drive,

addressed her concerns with the No Parking of Francis Drive. The Board will

revisit the area.

DRIVE CONSIDERATION OF NORTH HUMBERT ROAD DRAINAGE

Jo Emerick, Village Engineer and Jim Lewis, Director of Maintenance, reported

on options to help resolved the drainage problem. After some discussion, the

Board directed the Public Works Department to place rock in the drainage

ditch to eliminate the standing water.

CONSIDERATION OF ADDITIONAL ISSUES ON NORTH HUMBERT ROAD – DENNIS

MAXEINER

The Committee reviewed the list of additional concerns. Ditches need to be

clean to allow water to stay in ditches and not on the road, culverts need repair

of replacement, speed limit, mowing along railroad right-of-way. No action was

taken.

NEW BUSINESS:

CONSIDERATION OF USE OF ATVS/GOLF CARTS WITHIN THE VILLAGE.

Mayor McCormick reported that residents in the White Cliff Subdivision have

addressed their concern with ATV’s use in residential area. David Scoffold,

Madison County Sheriff’s Deputy suggested that the resident call the Sheriff’s

Office when ATV’s on roadway.

Trustee Stewart moved to adjourn meeting at 6:55 p.m., seconded by Trustee

Stumpf. Poll of Committee: Ayes-5, Nays-0, Absent-0. Motion carried.
