The city of Greenville has contracted with Doty Sanitation Services for trash pickup, and residents are required to use the new provided containers for trash pickup.

No other containers are allowed.

Residents should place their trash and recycling containers out by 6 a.m. on trash day, with the opening facing the street. Avoid putting the toters under low-hanging branches or shrubbery, as that will interfere with the operator's ability to lift the toters and empty them into the truck. By placing the toters at least 3 feet from mailboxes, fire hydrants, parked cars and other toters, residents ensure that the truck is able to quickly and efficiently pick up the trash and recycling.

Doty Sanitation has suggested that residents wait before requesting a second trash toter. One toter may be sufficient for the household's weekly trash pickup. In addition, avoid placing nonrecyclable items in the recycling tote; it will not be picked up if it is contaminated by non-recyclables.

Customers with questions and concerns should call Doty Sanitation at 618-487-5794.
