Godfrey considers urgent care facility for first responders
The village of Godfrey Public Safety Committee met Aug. 1 to consider establishing an urgent care facility for first responders.

Public Safety Committee August 1, 2016
Chairman Williams called the Public Safety Committee meeting of August 1, 2016, to order at 6:00 p.m. at the Godfrey Town Hall, 6810 Godfrey Road, Godfrey, Illinois.
Roll Call: Present: Johnes, McAtee, Springman, Stewart, Stumpf, Williams Absent: None
Chairman Williams asked for approval of the minutes of the July 5, 2016 meeting. Trustee Johnes moved for the approval of the July 5, 2016 minutes, seconded by Trustee Stewart. Poll of Committee: Ayes-5, Nays-0, Absent-0. Motion carried.
PUBLIC COMMENT: KARMAN FAIRLESS, 501 GRACE STREET – STREET LIGHT Jim Lewis, Director of Maintenance, reported that property owner will install lighting on their property.
MIKE VELLOFF, TAYLOR AVENUE – RIGHT-OF-WAY Mike Velloff, 800 Taylor Avenue, addressed the problem with rutting from vehicles leaving Taylor Avenue in the right-of-way. Mr. Velloff reported that he had placed T-Post in the area on the right-of-way to keep vehicles from the rutting the property. The Village has pulled the T-Post from the property. Mr. Velloff recommended that the Village maintain the right-of-way due to the rutting from the vehicles. The Village will provide maintenance if it becomes too much for property owners.
OLD BUSINESS: DISCUSSION ON LOGAN/HOMER SAFETY PROBLEM – STOP SIGN The Committee took no action on the matter. Sheriff’s Department will monitor the stop sign.
NEW BUSINESS ESDA COMMITTEE UPDATE – CHRIS SICHRA Chris Sichra, ESDA Coordinator, reported that the Village will be receiving the State accreditation, the presentation will be sometime around August 18, 2016.
Agreement with Village of Brighton Water Department for emergency services. Craig Noble helped with the agreement for the Village.
DISCUSSION OF WENZEL ROAD – WEIGHT LIMIT Jim Lewis, Director of Maintenance, reported that a resident had complained about semi-truck using Wenzel Road and the Village need to place a weight limit for road. No action taken.
CONSIDERATION OF POLICY FOR SAFETY – ACCIDENT PROCEDURES Clerk Whisler presented the request to establish an Urgent Care Facility for
first response emergency care for employees. Med Express, Alton, Illinois facility can handle most employee emergency. This would be for first treatment and the employee would be able to have a second opinion from a physician of their chose. Trustee Stumpf moved to give authorization to Clerk Whisler to enter into an agreement for Medical Services for first response with Med Express, 1704 Homer Adams Parkway, Alton, Illinois for Village employees, seconded by Trustee Springman. Poll of Board: Ayes-5, Nays-0, Absent-0. Motion carried.
PUBLIC COMMENT Trustee Springman reported that complaints have been received with joggers on roadways within the Village.
Trustee Stewart suggested that the Village revisit the Pierce Lane – Mud problem: consider purchasing a Conservation Easement for planting grass to resolve the problem. This consideration will be placed on the agenda for next month meeting.
Lt. Goeken reported that every deputy car has been given a ADS system for emergency service. Trustee Stumpf thanked Lt. Goeken for all his work in obtaining the equipment for the deputies.
Trustee Stewart moved to adjourn meeting at 6:40 p.m., seconded by Trustee Johnes. Poll of Committee: Ayes-5, Nays-0, Absent-0. Motion carried.
