Carrollton CUSD board reviews budget summary

The Carrollton Community Unified School District 1 Board of Education met Sept. 19 to review the budget summary.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the board:

"The Carrollton School Board of Education is a seven-member elected body that adopts policy for the daily operation of schools and sees that school laws are properly explained, enforced and observed. Each member serves a four-year term."

Opening Remarks

Dr. Cox presented a deficit budget for 2016-2017, however, a deficit reduction plan is not required at this time. The Superintendent reviewed local, state and federal revenue sources. This year our revenues are lower and our expenses are higher. Dr. Cox also spoke about General State Aid.

Overview of Budget

Dr. Cox reviewed the FY17 Budget Summary. The Superintendent spoke about pension reform, proration, potential cost shifts of pension, and PTELL. Dr. Cox discussed all the negative and positive components.
