Tracy takes Dist. 47 state Senate seat unopposed

Vote 05

Republican candidate Jil Tracy took the District 47 state Senate seat unopposed as incumbent John Sullivan (D-Quincy) did not seek re-election.

Tracy served in the Illinois House from July 2006 to January 2015. During her tenure as a representative for House District 94, she was the chief sponsor on 41 bills.

While in the Illinois House, Tracy found that change is slow in the legislature. Her own experience in business made her acutely aware of the fees, taxes and regulations that were driving businesses out of Illinois. As a representative, she worked with her colleagues to introduce reforms to make the state more business friendly. She maintained her membership in the Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce in order to stay in touch with the issues and concerns that affect the business community.

Tracy and her staff also worked to help her constituents make their way through the red tape that often accompanies paperwork in government departments.

She ran for Illinois lieutenant governor in 2014. She and her gubernatorial running-mate state Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) lost in the Republican primary to now-Gov. Bruce Rauner and his running mate Evelyn Sanguinetti by 3 percent.
