Pittsfield City Council purchases property

Meeting 07

The Pittsfield City Council met Dec. 20 to purchase property.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the council:

The council is the governing body for the city of Pittsfield. Members typically meets at 7 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month from May through October, and at 6 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month from November through April.

December 20, 2016

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the City Council room at 215 North Monroe Street. The following officers were present: Mayor John Hayden, City Clerk Cindy Prentice, and Aldermen Kevin Ketchum, Paul Lennon, Robert Ritchart, Bill Scheiwe, Robert Wilson, Kevin Wombles and Robert Wood.

Mayor Hayden presided.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the minutes of the last regular Council meeting.

Alderman Wood seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Ketchum, Lennon, Ritchart, Scheiwe,

Wilson, Wombles, Wood (7)

Nay: None (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Wood moved to approve the Treasurer’s Monthly Report for the month of November 2016.

Alderman Ketchum seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Ketchum, Lennon, Ritchart, Scheiwe,

Wilson, Wombles, Wood (7)

Nay: None (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Knight arrived at the meeting at 6:02 p.m.

Alderman Wombles moved to make a permanent transfer from the Revolving Loan Fund to the Lake Improvement and Restoration Fund in the amount of $3,000.00.

Alderman Scheiwe seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Ketchum, Knight, Lennon, Ritchart,

Scheiwe, Wilson, Wombles, Wood (8)

Nay: None (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Ritchart moved to approve the Finance Committee Report and the Clerk be directed to issue the claims thereon.

Alderman Wood seconded the motion.

Scheiwe, Wilson, Wombles, Wood (8)

Nay: None (0)

The motion carried.

The Markerts are scheduled to start demolition on the old water plant on December 29, 2016.

Mayor Hayden would like to schedule an Ordinance Committee meeting sometime before the first meeting in January to discuss mandated legislation for reimbursements for employees’ and officials’ expenditures which defines what may be reimbursed and the maximum reimbursable amount.

The Street Department was commended on a good job of clearing the streets after the ice accumulation last weekend.

December 20, 2016

Alderman Lennon moved to go into closed session at 6:08 p.m. to discuss litigation and the purchase of property.

Alderman Wilson seconded the motion.

Scheiwe, Wilson, Wombles, Wood (8)

Nay: None (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Wood moved to go back into open session at 6:18 p.m.

Alderman Wilson seconded the motion.

Scheiwe, Wilson, Wombles, Wood (8)

Nay: None (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Wombles moved to purchase the property adjacent to the City Public Works property from Steve A. and Lee Ann Little for $30,000.00 and sign an agreement for the purchase.

Alderman Wood seconded the motion.

The motion carried.

Alderman Knight moved to adjourn this meeting at 6:20 p.m.
