McDonough County ESDA committee addresses siren issues

The McDonough County ESDA and Claims Committee met Feb. 14 to address siren issues.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the committee:

ESDA & CLAIMS COMMITTEE February 14, 2017

The ESDA & Claims Committee held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, 3rd Floor Law Library. Committee members present were Chairman Trevor Toland, Larry Aurelio, Letha Clark, Joshua Jefferson, Earl Sims, Paul Trimmer and County Board Chairman Scott Schwerer. Members Richard Marcott and Dave Nissen were absent. Others present were ESDA Director Dan Kreps and County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes. Beth Jameson was present as recording secretary.

Chairman Toland called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Approval of January 17, 2017 Minutes Member Aurelio moved with a second by Member Trimmer to approve the January 17, 2017 minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

ESDA Director Report ESDA Director Dan Kreps presented the monthly report. Dan met with the Health Department to work on health vulnerability assessment.

The Colchester Lions Club would like to get involved with ESDA to qualify for $ 10,000 disaster relief that could be used by people affected. He is working with George Dixon to establish a way to use them for initial volunteer intake processing.

He will be opening the EOC (Emergency Operations Center) during the lunch hour soon for the core to do a walk thru. He will be treating them to pizza.

The local National Guard Unit is changing from a fighting unit to a construction unit. He is in the initial stages of establishing use of personnel and equipment initially in a disaster.

The radar will not operate. He is going to sit down with Supreme Radio to go thru the checklist the company sent to see what the costs would be for Supreme to go thru and check out possible problems.

The Hidden Hills siren didn’t work again this month, it was determined it had not been powered on after it was worked on.

Approval of Claims Member Sims moved with a second by Member Jefferson to approve the claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Member Aurelio moved with second by Member Clark to adjourn the meeting. With no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
