The special meeting of the Carthage E.S.D. #317 Board of Education was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Board President Brent Ufkes.
Roll Call: Mrs. Markley/present; Mrs. Graham/present; Mr. Ufkes/present; Mr. Blue/absent; Mr. Menn/present; Mrs. Huston/absent; Mr. Gooding/present.
It was moved by Mrs. Graham and seconded by Mr. Menn to enter into executive session at 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of discussing personnel and collective bargaining. Roll Call: Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/absent; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Huston/absent; Mr. Gooding/yes. Motion carried 5-0.
It was moved by Mrs. Markley and seconded by Mr. Gooding to exit executive session at 7:06 p.m. Roll Call: Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/absent; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Huston/absent; Mr. Gooding/yes. Motion carried 5-0.
It was moved by Mrs. Markley and seconded by Mrs. Graham to accept the resignation of Diane Pepple, effective June 30, 2017. Roll Call: Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/absent; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Huston/absent; Mr. Gooding/yes. Motion carried 5-0.
It was moved by Mr. Menn and seconded by Mr. Ufkes to employ John Phillips as a bus driver according to the pay scale stated in the contract between Carthage Elementary School District #317 and the Service Employee’s International Union Local Number 73. Roll Call: Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/absent; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Huston/absent; Mr. Gooding/yes. Motion carried 5-0.
It was moved by Mrs. Markley and seconded by Mrs. Graham to approve the collective bargaining agreement with Carthage Education Association for the 2017-2018, 2018- 2019 and 2019-2020 school years. Roll Call: Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/absent; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Huston/absent; Mr. Gooding/yes. Motion carried 5-0.
