Taylorville Community Unit School District 3 Finance Committee met Feb. 6.

Here is the minutes as provided by the Committee:

The meeting of the Finance Committee was called to order by Chairperson Seth McMillan at 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2017, at the Administration Office.

Also present: Committee members Jim Andruch and Rick Bryan, Board of Education members Steve Milling, Katie Fraley (via Skype), Dennis Atteberry, and Bruce Barry, Superintendent Greggory Fuerstenau, Business Manager, Colene German, Matt Hutchison (THS Principal), Brandi Bruley (North Principal), Anita Brown (Stonington Principal), Chris Kuntzman (Technology Director), Karen Kuntzman (Technology Integration Specialists) and members of CFE.

Dr. Fuerstenau discussed the categorical payments owed to the district as well as what the FY17 budget would look like if no additional payments are received. Four possible budget scenarios were discussed for FY18. Possible cuts for FY18 were discussed including retirements not being filled, reductions of staff and elimination of Jr. High, Freshman and JV Sports Programs. The need for reductions of PREP Program staff was also discussed in case state funding for the preschool program does not come through. These positions will be reinstated if we do receive the funding. The Board discussed the potential cuts and asked the administration to draft a plan with an additional $250,000 in cuts for FY18 as well as cuts for FY19.

The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
