Here is the minutes as provided by the Board:

Call to Order and Roll Call The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, March 27, 2017 in the Board of Education Office in Augusta, Illinois. Mark Cox, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. 

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education with the following members present and absent as listed below:

Agenda Items On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Bruenger, the Board of Education approved the agenda items as presented. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Bruenger, Cox, Eilers, Holst, Ramsey, Smith, Stephens Nay: None Absent: None Motion Carried

Approval of Minutes On a motion by Member Ramsey and a second by Member Eilers, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the March 13, 2017 regular meeting and closed session. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Cox, Eilers, Holst, Ramsey, Smith, Stephens, Bruenger Nay: None Absent: None Motion Carried

Public Participation None 

Special Recognition 

Superintendent Fox presented the Board Excellence Awards which included junior high regional science fair winners, high school regional science fair winners, IESA Solo and Ensemble Contest, IHSA Solo and Ensemble Contest, and WGEM People’s Choice Player of the Year. 

Financial 

Superintendent Fox reviewed the monthly financial snapshot which shows we are 67% into the fiscal year. We have received 75% of our budgeted revenue and have spent 66% of our budgeted expenditures.

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Bruenger, the Board of Education approved the bills, financial statements, and activity funds. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Eilers, Holst, Ramsey, Smith, Stephens, Bruenger, Cox Nay: None Absent: None Motion Carried

Informational Items 

Superintendent Fox discussed our sports cooperative agreement.

Superintendent Fox reminded the board of the upcoming school board election on April 4, 2017. 

Superintendent Fox reviewed the state testing requirements. 

Superintendent Fox presented Senate Bill 550. It requires all schools (Pre-K through 5th grade) to test lead in water used for drinking and cooking. 

Superintendent Fox reviewed the County School Facility Occupation Tax which will be on the ballot in the April election.

On a motion by Member Eilers and a second by Member Stephens, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 7:10 p.m. for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Holst, Ramsey, Smith, Stephens, Bruenger, Cox, Eilers Nay: None Absent: None Motion Carried

The Board of Education returned to Open Session at 7:57 p.m.

Action Items On a motion by Member Ramsey and a second by Member Eilers, the Board of Education approved the employment of the following non-certified positions for the 2017-2018 school year. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Ramsey, Smith, Stephens, Bruenger, Cox, Eilers, Holst Nay: None Absent: None Motion Carried

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Ramsey, the Board of Education approved the employment of the following extra-curricular assignments and other duties for the 2017-2018 school year. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Smith, Stephens, Bruenger, Cox, Eilers, Holst, Ramsey Nay: None Absent: None Motion Carried

On a motion by Member Eilers and a second by Member Stephens, the Board of Education approved the employment of Tecia Lantz in the position of elementary principal for the 2017- 2018 school year with a base salary of $66,000. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Stephens, Bruenger, Cox, Eilers, Holst, Ramsey Nay: Smith Absent: None Motion Carried

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Bruenger, the Board of Education accepted the resignation of Teresa Wood in the position of cook effective at the end of the 2016- 2017 for the purpose of retirement. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Bruenger, Cox, Eilers, Holst, Ramsey, Smith, Stephens Nay: None Absent: None Motion Carried

On a motion by Member Eilers and a second by Member Ramsey, the Board of Education adopted a resolution to honorably dismiss Tiffany Hubbard in the position of bus supervision for the 2017-2018 school year. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Cox, Eilers, Holst, Ramsey, Smith, Stephens, Bruenger Nay: None Absent: None Motion Carried

Adjournment On a motion by Member Eilers and a second by Member Stephens, the Board of Education voted to adjourn the meeting at 8:02 p.m. Voice Vote Motion Carried
