City of Greenville issued the following announcement on May. 14.
Eight of Greenville’s museums and attractions are planning a celebration of Museum Day on Saturday, May 15th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The City of Greenville’s Tourism Director Jes Adam is organizing the one-day event. Adam said, “This is a great opportunity for our residents and visitors to experience a fascinating eight-stop tour of Greenville’s unique museums and tourist attractions. Despite the pandemic’s drastic toll on the tourism industry, our local museum curators have continued to work tirelessly to freshen up their displays and add new items of interest. We hope everyone will take the time to visit these stops and enjoy a day of fun in Greenville.”
To guide visitors to each of the participating locations, guests can pick up a “Museum Day Passport” at any stop. Each location will stamp the passport. Once the passport card is fully stamped, guests can turn the passport in at any stop and be entered to win $50 in BoCo Bucks.
Some locations will include special features for Museum Day. The Bond County Historical Society will host a grand opening of their new location in the US DeMoulin Mansion. The DeMoulin Museum has arranged for a food truck, a goat petting zoo, free caricatures and more.
Participating locations include: DeMoulin Museum, Greenville Public Library, Bond County Historical Society, Richard W. Bock Sculpture Museum, Montrose Cemetery Mausoleum, One-Room Schoolhouse, American Heritage Railroad, and Hill’s Fort.
