City of Jacksonville Commission on Disabilities and Human Relations met Oct. 7.

Present: Mary Watts (Chair), Guy Crumley, David Bauer (By Phone), Nancy Harper, Sarah Robinson, Peggy Davidsmeyer, Dan Thompson Absent: Ruth Linear, Eddie Lowe (Secretary)

WELCOME AND CALL TO ORDER 4:20 PM

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion: To approve the minutes of 9/2/2021

Seconded by: Peggy Davidsmeyer

Carried: Unanimous

OLD BUSINESS - None

NEW BUSINESS

➢ Phil McCarty Director of Emergency Management spoke to the commission regarding COVID response for our community. With much collaboration with state and local organization services were available for the demographics of our community.

➢ Information was shared about the Community Needs Assessment Survey that is being conducted by the Jacksonville Regional Economic Development Corporation along with the Illinois Housing Development Authority. Commission members were giving resources they could pass along to the members of the community they serve.

➢ Dan Thompson shared ideas for enhancing accessibility in our community. A list of ideas is attached.

MISCELLANEOUS

Dan Thompson asked that whenever possible to have email attachments shared as a Word Document. He said Word documents are easier to convert to braille than PDF documents.
