Macomb Community Unit School District #185 Board met Dec. 13.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

1. Call to Order – Ms. Jill Myers, Board President

2. Pledge of Allegiance – Ms. Myers

3. Roll Call – Ms. Lisa Mooney, Board Recording Secretary

4. Reception of Visitors – Ms. Myers

5. Recognition of Students, Staff Members, and Community Members – Ms. Myers

5.1 The Board of Education recognizes Madeline MacGregor, daughter of Kathleen and Adrian MacGregor, for being selected Senior of the Month for the month of November. Madeline’s school activities include singing in Madrigals and Bella Bombers. She is the president of the MHS Thespian Troupe, participates in Macomb Youth Leadership Organization and Speech Team, and is a member of the National Honor Society. She has earned the following honors as an MHS student: Division I rankings for piano and vocal solos for IHSA/IESA Solo & Ensemble Competition (2017-2020), Best of the Day award for Piano Solo (2021), and Most Valuable Player award for Girls’ Tennis (2018-2020). Madeline is involved in her community. She gives private piano lessons, is a member of The Crossing worship band and The Crossing kids’ ministry, she volunteers at The Elms and Heartland nursing homes and the Macomb Arts Center as a pianist, and she volunteers at First Presbyterian Church. Madeline’s hobbies include composing music and spending time with family and friends. She currently works as a sales associate at Maurice’s and was a lifeguard at Georgetown Pool (2019-2020). After graduation, she would like to attend either Indiana University or University of Iowa to major in Music Education while continuing her study of classical piano.

This program is sponsored by MidAmerica National Bank who established the program to recognize the accomplishments of outstanding senior students.

13.1 Discussion

a. Receive a report from the Board Policy Committee and conduct first reading on proposed changes to Board policies, administrative procedures and exhibits – Jim La Prad and Jill Myers, Policy Committee members 

13.2 Consideration for Action

a. Authorize the Superintendent to create a Board Awards and Recognition committee – Ms. Myers

b. Approve the 2021 levy – Dr. Twomey 

c. Approve a resolution temporarily transferring the powers of the Board to the Superintendent – Ms. Myers P. 157 Goal: Communication
