Report: Carthage School District spent $8,546 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Carthage Elementary School District 317 was up 3.3 percent from five years ago, according to the West Central Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Hancock County school district spent $8,273 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $8,546 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment rose from 438 to 456 students over the same period.

Carthage's spending in 2019-20 was 41 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
