McDonough County Board Law & Legal Committee met Nov. 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The Law & Legal Committee held its monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held  at the McDonough County Courthouse, Law Library. Committee Members present included Committee Chair Joe  Erlandson, Vice Chair Ken Durkin, Lee Calvert, Eric Chapman, Travis Hiel, Michael Kirby, Terra Litchfield, Julie Melvin.  Other persons in attendance were County Chair Scott Schwerer, Committee Secretary Stacey Alexander, Patrick Stout, Ric Smart, Tim Lobdell, Sheriff Nicholas Petitgout, and Dana Walker. 

Chair Erlandson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 

Review & Approve October 4, 2021 Minutes 

Member Calvert moved with a second by Member Melvin to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a  voice vote. 

Waste Management Update 

The report was emailed.  

Tri-County Recycling 

Tim Lobdell gave the report. Lobdell informed the Committee that the fall Clean up schedule is done. 

Veteran’s Assistance and Van Report 

Ric Smart gave the report. Four Veterans were given assistance in October. Total assistance amounted to $755.21.  

Sheriff’s Report 

Sheriff Petitgout went over the report.  

Assessor’s Office Update 

No Report. County Chair Schwerer informed the Committee that he hopes to have a contract and a new Assessor by the  Board meeting this month. 

Claims Review and Approval 

Member Durkin moved with a second by Member Hiel to approve the claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice  vote. 

Other 

Executive Session 

None 

Public Comment 

Dana Walker wants to know if there will be a new Precinct map.

County Board Chair Comments 

Susan Ash would like to set up recycling in the County and would like to come and talk to the Committee in December. County Chair Schwerer informed the Committee that if Federal Senate Bill S3011 passes they will be able to use the  ARPA money more freely on lost revenue.

Member Litchfield moved with a second by Member Kirby to adjourn the meeting at 7:22 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
