Bushnell-Prairie City Community Unit School District 170 Board of Education met Oct. 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education met in a Regular Meeting on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School LRC with the following members present: McCleery, Miller, Mendenhall, Croxton and Kozicki. Absent: Oakman, Webb

Public Comments: John Slater spoke to the Board regarding the Property Tax Levy. Zach Anderson spoke regarding new JH Fall Athletics for next school year.

The Board reviewed the Consent Agenda.

Motion by Member Croxton seconded by Member Mendenhall to approve the Consent Agenda which contained the following: Minutes of the September 21, 2022 Regular Meeting, Executive Session and Budget Hearing. Payment of Bills, Treasurer's Report and Investments, Student Activity Accounts, Manual and Void Checks and Imprest Ledgers. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Mendenhall, Croxton and Kozicki. Nay: None

Superintendent, Dr. Dinger, reported on the Teacher's Institute, Crisis Planning, District Leadership Team and student transportation at Greenbriar Apartments.

Building Principals reported on attending the Illinois Principals Association Conference.

Superintendent Gound reviewed the School Maintenance Project Grant for matching funds up to $50,000.

Motion by Member Miller, seconded by Member Croxton to approve the submission of the School Maintenance Project Grant. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Mendenhall, Croxton and Kozicki. Nay: None

High School Teachers, Mr. Kluesner and Ms. Edwards, spoke to the Board regarding starting a School Newspaper.

Superintendent, Dr. Dinger discussed the Portrait or Profile of a Graduate that supports efforts of continuous improvement.

First Reading of the following Board Policies:

4:10 Fiscal and Business Management

4:70 Resource Conservation

4:180 Pandemic Preparedness; Management; and Recovery

5:80 Court Duty

5:110 Recognition for Service

5:140 Solicitations by, or from staff

5:240 Suspension

6:70 Teaching about Religions

6:80 Teaching about Controversial Issues

6:140 Education of Homeless Children

6:290 Homework

6:330 Achievement and Awards

7:15 Student and Family Privacy Rights

7:270 Administering medicines to students

7:285 Anaphylaxis Prevention, Response and Food Allergy Management Program

Motion by Member Kozicki, seconded by Member Miller to adjourn to Executive Session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees. After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

Pastor Hughes spoke to the Board regarding him transporting students from Greenbriar to and from school. He will be transporting 7 students.

The Board reviewed the Personnel Report.

Motion by Member Kozicki, seconded by Member Miller to approve the following Personnel Recommendations: Resignation: Cheryl Hood as High School Cafeteria Cook. New Employment: Steve Ackers as Substitute Cook effective immediately. Brandon Nott High School Head Boys Track for the 2022-23 School Year, Jenifer Bower as High School Assistant Track Coach for the 2022-23 School Year. Change in Status: Kimberly Lowe from 4/5 Resource to Elementary Life Skills. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Mendenhall, Croxton and Kozicki. Nay: None

Motion by Member Mendenhall, seconded by Member Miller to adjourn the Meeting. After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
