Bushnell-Prairie City Community Unit School District 170 Board of Education met April 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education met in a Regular Meeting on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School LRC with the following members present: McCleery, Miller, Mendenhall, Oakman, Croxton, Webb and Thompson. Absent: None

Public Comments: None

The Board reviewed the Consent Agenda.

Motion by Member Oakman, seconded by Member Mendenhall to approve the Consent Agenda which contained the following: Minutes of the March 22, 2023 Regular Meeting and Closed Session, Payment of Bills, Treasurer's Report and Investments, Student Activity Accounts, Manual and Void Checks and Imprest Ledgers. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Oakman, Croxton and Webb. Nay: None Abstain: Mendenhall

Superintendent, Dr. Dinger, reported on High School Auditorium Construction and seating of new board members in May.

Dr. Dinger discussed the change to the School Calendar due to taking an emergency day on Thursday, March 30th. The last day of school will now be on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

Motion by Member Mendenhall, seconded by Member Oakman to approve the change in the 2022-23 School Calendar. After a roll call vote, motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Mendenhall, Oakman, Croxton, Webb and Thompson. Nay: None

Dr. Dinger reported that the district received a School Equipment Grant in the amount of $49,522 to benefit the Elementary Cafeteria.

Dr. Dinger reviewed the Compliance Audit with the Board.

Motion by Member Oakman, seconded by Member Croxton to adjourn to Executive Session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees. After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

Motion by Member Mendenhall, seconded by Member Oakman to adjourn Executive Session and return to Open Session. After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

Motion by Member Mendenhall, seconded by Member Oakman to approve the personnel report as submitted: Employment: Ruth Owusu-Ansah as High School Special Education Teacher effective the 2023-24 School Year. Theo Antah as Junior High School

Special Education Teacher for the 2023-24 School Year. William Knowles as Junior High School Principal to begin July 1, 2023. Maurhyn Faxon as Elementary 5th Grade Teacher effective the 2023-24 School Year. Change in Status: Kelsey Kelso to Coordinator of Special Services effective the 2023-24 School Year. Resignation: James Melvin as Junior High Head Boys Basketball Coach effective immediately. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Mendenhall, Oakman, Croxton, Webb and Thompson. Nay: None

Motion by Member Mendenhall, seconded by Member Oakman to adjourn the meeting. After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

The next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School LRC
