A-C Central Community Unified School District 262 Board of Education met April 19.

The meeting was called to order at 7:06 p.m.

Proposed Agenda

Cuba/Petefish - Motion to approve the proposed agenda as presented. Voice vote: All members present voted aye. Motion carried.

Election of Officers and Establish Terms of Office

Mr. Bagby asked for nominations for Board President.

Fanning/Petefish - Motion to accept the nomination of V. Todd Jokisch as Board President. Voice vote: All members present voted aye. Motion carried.

Mr. Jokisch asked for nominations for Board Vice President and Board Secretary.

Cuba/Fanning - Motion to accept the nomination of Debra Petefish as Board Vice President. Voice vote: All members present voted aye. Motion carried.

Fanning/Petefish - Motion to accept the nomination of Dan Cuba as Board Secretary. Voice vote: All members present voted aye. Motion carried.

High School Student of the Month is Jarrett Smith.

Middle School Student of the Month is Dillon Stremsterfer.

High School Student of the Month is Sierra Robinson.

Middle School Student of the Month Ethan Hoagland.

Approve Existing Board Policies

Cuba/Petefish Motion to approve the Existing Board Policies. Roll call: All members present voted aye. Motion carried.

Accolades from the Board

Jennifer Fanning stated that the Jacksonville Newspaper had a picture of A-C Central teacher receiving some training.

Deb Petefish shared a few items. Bradley University Honor Band we had 6 students attend. The Spring Musical was very good. Gavin Arthalony was the State Journal Register Small Schools Boys Basketball Player in the area. Carson Arthalony and Jayce Privia were in the top 24 Girls in Small Schools Player. A-C Beta Club had numerous awards at the State Convention. The Bass Fishing team places 7th out of 65 teams in their first tournament. Dr. Amy Zahm received the Abe Lincoln Region "Reaching Out and Building Bridges" Award.

Special Presentation

Architect Report from Mr. Bagby

Mr. Bagby spoke with Kevin Handy regarding the District HLS application. The application was sitting in que and needed administrator approval. It has been approved and will go to the next level which is the ROE. Then we will receive an amendment from ISBE to use HLS funds to do the intercom system in Chandlerville.

Administrators and Committee Reports

Elementary Report - Kindergarten screenings are scheduled for May 4th & 5th. The 3rd & 4th grade students earned a field trip to Skyzone for working very hard during testing week. WAND News featured a story of student's kindness to a student in a wheelchair. The 4th grade students built Beau Griffin a wheelchair that he could roller skate with. Beau and the 4th grade students gave a great interview.

MS/HS Report - FFA students attended Ag Legislative Day at the IL State Capital. School House Rock the musical was great. A few students toured Lincoln Land's Workforce Center. Ms. Scaggs Environmental Class constructed wind turbines and solar powered cars. The testing schedule is also listed and upcoming dates.

Building & Grounds Report - We did not receive the HVAC units on 4/5/23. Having a lot of issues with the leased buses. Brake release sticking and DEF Codes.

Technology Report - State testing began with the IAR tests in the Middle School. We had a few issues so testing was pushed back a day. The next test will be the ISA test for 5th, 8th, & 11th grades. We expect issues but we are prepared for them.

Committees - Todd Jokisch and Jennifer Fanning are on a committee but they are waiting on a list of needs regarding our bond money.

Co-Superintendent - Mr. Bagby tried to get a second trash bid but was unsuccessful. We are still working on a copier bid. Mr. Bagby has met with Watts, CDS, and Tom Day. At our Admin. Meeting we are going to discuss summer school.

Todd Jokisch stated that we do have a board vacancy. So, we need to post a vacancy notice in the papers and social media.

Executive Session (Exceptions 1,2, & 9)

Cuba/Petefish - Motion to go into Executive Session at 7:33 p.m. in accordance with State Statute to discuss the following:

Exception 1. Adjournment to Executive Session for the purpose of: The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1), as amended by P.A. 93-0057.

Exception 2. Collective negotiating matters between the District and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(2).

Exception 9. Student disciplinary cases. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(9).

Voice vote: All members present voted aye. Motion carried.

Return to Open Session

Fanning/Petefish -Motion to come out of executive session at 8:16 p.m. and to approve and seal the minutes of this executive session. Voice vote: All members present voted aye. Motion carried.
