Bushnell-Prairie City Community Unit School District 170 Board of Education met June 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education met in a Regular Meeting on Wednesday, May 21, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School LRC with the following members present: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler Absent: None

Public Comments: Tyler Snyder spoke to the Board about bringing Golf back. He has 5 students interested. Jill Klinedinst also requested Golf be brought back as her sons would like to participate.

The Board reviewed the Consent Agenda.

Motion by Member McGrew, seconded by Member Webb to approve the Consent Agenda which contained the following: Minutes of the May 17, 2023 Regular Meeting, Payment of Bills, Treasurer's Report and Investments, Student Activity Accounts, Manual and Void Checks and Imprest Ledgers. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler Nay: None Abstain: Croxton Bob Gound, Assistant Superintendent, reported on High School Auditorium Construction, Administrator's Retreat, Crisis Team met with local police, fire and EMT's. Bushnell Fireworks will be held on July 3rd at the football practice field.

The Board reviewed the Consolidated District Plan.

Motion by Member Croxton, seconded by Member Miller to approve the Consolidated District Plan. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

The Board reviewed Fuel bids for the 2023-24 School Year.

Motion by Member Miller, seconded by Member Spangler to accept the low bid from Herr Petroleum Corp., Galesburg IL for supplying fuel from August 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

Mr. Gound reviewed the Blue Cross Blue Shield Heath Insurance renewal with the Board.

Motion by Member Croxton, seconded by Member Miller to approve the Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Insurance renewal. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

Mr. Gound reviewed a Resolution authorizing payments for the month of June in the month of July as there is no scheduled meeting in July.

Motion by Member Webb, seconded by Member Spangler to approve the resolutions allowing administration to make June payments. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

Mr. Gound reported that the Annual District Audit will be conducted in September by our District Auditors Wipfli.

Motion by Member Oakman, seconded by Member Croxton to adjourn to Executive Session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees. After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

Motion by Member Croxton, seconded by Member Miller to adjourn Executive Session and return to Open Session. After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

The Board reviewed the Personnel Report.

Motion by Member Spangler, seconded by Member Croxton to approve the Personnel Report as presented: Resignations: Rebecca Duchow as High School Ag effective immediately, James Melvin as Head High School Softball Coach effective immediately. New Employment: Julia Kluesner - 5th Grade Teacher effective 2023-24 School Year, Melonie Icenogle - 5th Grade Teacher effective 2023-24 School Year. Andrew Rodeffer - Junior High Head Boys Basketball Coach effective 2023-24 School Year. Bill Walker - Junior High Assistant Boys Basketball Coach effective 2023-24 School Year. Kristen Mahr - Junior High Assistant Girls Basketball Coach effective 2023-24 School Year. Dave Arnold - Junior High Head Boys Baseball Coach effective 2023-24 School Year. Chris Grozinic - Junior High Assistant Boys Baseball Coach effective 2023-24 School Year. Brandon Nott - High School Head Boys Track Coach effective 2023-24 School Year. Jenifer Bowers - High School Assistant Track coach effective 2023-24 School Year. Change in Status: Emily Jackson from Elementary 5th Grade to Elementary Special Education effective 2023-24 School Year. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

Motion by Member Spangler, seconded by Member Croxton to adjourn the Meeting.

After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

The next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School LRC
