Bushnell-Prairie City Community Unit School District 170 Board of Education met Oct. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education met in a Regular Meeting on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School LRC with the following members present: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler Absent: None

Public Comments: John Slater spoke regarding using Chuck Slater Memorial money to put Track Records out by the track. He encouraged the Board to bring back the Industrial Arts program.

The Board reviewed the Consent Agenda.

Motion by Member Spangler, seconded by Member Miller to approve the Consent Agenda which contained the following: Minutes of the September 20, 2023 Budget Hearing, Regular and Executive Session Meetings, Payment of Bills, Treasurer's Report and Investments, Student Activity Accounts, Manual and Void Checks and Imprest Ledgers. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Abstain: Croxton Nay: None

Bob Gound, Superintendent, reported on: Upcoming Teacher Institute training, he attended the IASA meeting in Springfield, the Principals attended the IPA Conference, District Leadership Team met on September 20th, and Auditorium lighting proposal.

Motion by Member McGrew, seconded by Member Webb to declare Bus #6, a 2003 Chevrolet, surplus property. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

Motion by Member Webb, seconded by Member Thompson to authorize the superintendent to dispose of Bus #6 for scrap. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

Superintendent Gound reviewed the 2023 Audit.

Motion by Member Miller, seconded by Member Croxton to approve the 2023 School District Audit. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

Building Principals reviewed the School Report Card data with the Board.

Superintendent Gound reported that we purchased a 2020 Dodge Journey for student transportation.

Correspondence was reviewed.

Motion by Member Croxton, seconded by Member Spangler to adjourn to Executive Session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees, probable litigation against District and student discipline. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb,

Thompson, McGrew and Spangler Nay: None

Motion by Member Miller, seconded by Member Croxton to adjourn Executive Session and return to Open Session. After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

Motion by Member Miller, seconded by Member Webb to approve the Personnel Report as follows: Resignations: Jean Nelson as Full-time Cook effective 9/27/23, Emily Jackson as Elementary Special Education Teacher effective 10/6/23, Haley Rodeffer as Elementary ParaProfessional effective 9/29/23 and Andrew Rodeffer as High School Math Teacher and Head JH boys Basketball Coach effective 10/26/23. Employment: Resham Singh as Elementary ParaProfessional beginning 9/26/23, George Virag IV as High School Cafeteria Cook beginning 10/23/23 and Mindy Whited as Substitute Bus Driver/Aide beginning once training is complete. Retirement: Marianne McGrew as Junior High School ParaProfessional effective 1/3/24. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

Motion by Member McGrew, seconded by Member Spangler to adjourn the Meeting.

After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

The next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School LRC
