Bushnell-Prairie City Community Unit School District 170 Board of Education met Dec. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

TRUTH IN TAXATION HEARING

The Board of Education held a Budget Hearing on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 5:45 p.m. in the District Office with the following members present: McCleery, Miller, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler Absent: Croxton

Public Comments: John Slater, Dennis Carpenter and Rick Ferguson spoke on keeping Property Taxes low.

Superintendent Gound reviewed the 2023 Tax Levy.

Motion by Member Miller seconded by Member Thompson to adjourn the Meeting.

Voice vote: All in favor. Motion carried.

REGULAR MEETING

The Board of Education met in a Regular Meeting on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School LRC with the following members present: McCleery, Miller, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler Absent: Croxton

Board President McCleery appointed Jon Miller as Secretary Pro Tem.

Public Comments: Amber Johnson requested busing to and from school for students who live at Greenbriar apartments.

The Board reviewed the Consent Agenda.

Motion by Member McGrew, seconded by Member Webb to approve the Consent Agenda which contained the following: Minutes of the November 15, 2023, Regular and Executive Session Meetings, Payment of Bills, Treasurer's Report and Investments, Student Activity Accounts, Manual and Void Checks and Imprest Ledgers. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

Bob Gound, Superintendent, reported on: B-PC Education Foundation, Supply Chain Grant, January 3rd Teacher's Institute and Graduation date for the Class of 2024 will be on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

Superintendent Gound reviewed the 2023 Tax Levy.

Motion by Member McGrew, seconded by Member Miller to approve the 2023 Tax Levy. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

Superintendent Gound reviewed the bids for roof replacement over the High School Ag Shop.

Motion by Member Spangler, seconded by Member Webb to accept the bid submitted by Kreiling Roofing for $121,000 to repair the High School Ag Roof. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

Superintendent Gound discussed with the Board approval to negotiate outside of the Collective Bargaining Agreement with School Psychologist, Speech Language Pathologist and School Nurse.

Motion by Member Miller, seconded by Member Thompson to approve the negotiation outside of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the positions of School Psychologist,

Speech Language Pathologist and School Nurse. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

Motion by Member Webb, seconded by Member Spangler to approve the Second Reading of the following Board Polices. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

The Board reviewed the Personnel Report.

Motion by Member Spangler, seconded by Member Miller to approve the

following Personnel recommendations: New Employment: Madison Johnson, Elementary Program Assistant effective January 3, 2024, Mark Rodeffer as Head Girls' Softball Coach for the 2023-24 Season, Jon Lam as Assistant Girls' Softball Coach for the 2023-24 Season, Todd Rodeffer as Volunteer Junior High School Boys Basketball Coach. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

Superintendent, Bob Gound, reported on transporting Elementary School Students from Greenbriar Apartments to and from the Elementary beginning January 8, 2024.

Auditorium usage for school and community and the Chicago School Board Conference.

Motion by Member McGrew, seconded by Member Webb to adjourn to Executive Session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees, probable litigation against District and student discipline.

After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler Nay: None

Motion by Member Miller, seconded by Member Webb to adjourn Executive Session and return to Open Session. After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
