City of Dallas City Council met March 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The Dallas City City Council held its regular meeting on March 16, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. Mayor Kevin Six called the meeting to order with the following commissioners present: Harold Northup Jr. and Greg Olson. Carole McDowell and Peggy Newberry were absent.

Others attending the meeting were Anne Thompson, Cathie Smith, and Scott Rosson.

A motion was made by Olson, and 2nd by Northup to accept the minutes of the March 2, 2026, meeting. Northup, Olson, and Six AYE. McDowell and Newberry ABSENT.

Cathie Smith asked where the city stands regarding the nuisance ordinance violations. The council informed her that the city attorney is supposed to be working on these.

Mrs. Smith also asked about the Land Bank and if there has been any progress made. The Land Bank personnel have not notified the council about anything regarding the buildings in town.

Commissioner Olson reported that the discharge pipe from the sewer lagoon to the Wetlands area has been jetted out, and it appears that there is now water going into the Wetlands area. It also appears like some work is going to be needed to be done on the discharge pipe eventually.

Mayor Six has spoken to the owner of several cats in town that are running at large. He informed this person that the cats are going to have to be kept from disturbing other properties in town.

The city clerk reported that the title company working on the paperwork for the city’s purchase of the Father Schram Hall building contacted him today and informed him that the closing should be taking place within the next two weeks.

Discussed three trees along West Third Street that are located between the sidewalk and West Third Street. Mayor Six has contacted Mike Dill about removing these trees, and he has given the mayor the following bids for tree removal and clean up of the brush:

Tree at 121 West Third Street $3,000

Tree at 140 West Third Street $2,500

Tree at 276 West Third Street $1,200

A motion was made by Northup, and 2nd by Olson to hire Mike Dill to remove the tree and clean up the brush at 140 West Third Street for $2,500. Northup, Olson, and Six AYE. McDowell and Newberry ABSENT.

Discussed the lighting along the walking path at the Wetlands area. It was suggested that possibly getting taller lights would result in not as many being needed. This will be discussed more at a later date.

A motion was made by Northup, and 2nd by Olson to adjourn the meeting. Northup, Olson, and Six AYE. McDowell and Newberry ABSENT.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:54 p.m.
