4. DIRECTOR’S REPORT

4.1. Review of the Director’s Report

Ryan Thomason read the Director’s Report which included a proposed budget of $24,000 for the season which includes a raise from $25 to $30 for each band member and an extra concert. The total season budget to include directors pay, librarian, new music, perfect attendance and possible use of the United Methodist Church would be $28,615. The band has also been asked to perform an 8th concert by the Bond County Historical Society for the 250th USA Birthday Gala on June 13th. We will be performing new music that requires extra practice. Those practice dates and times will add an hour to each of these dates: Monday, June 2 from 7 pm to 10 pm and Monday, June 9 from 7 pm to 10 pm. This extra concert date and extra one hour practice will be optional for each member. Ryan has purchased 4 to 5 new pieces of music and will need to purchase a new arrangement for the Space Force song.

5. 2026 SEASON SUGGESTIONS AND DISCUSSION

March 17, 2026, is the deadline for all music and files to be moved from the Greenville University location to the new Welcome Center. Ryan, Megan and Shawn will coordinate efforts to recruit laborers for the work. Blake Knox will consult with the City Board to see if we can pay the workers $50 and determine a date when they receive their check.

Blake Knox mentioned that the city was able to purchase the Wenger Band chairs and we will continue to use the stands from the junior high or the band member’s own stand. The chairs will be stored in the storage room at the Plaza.

The Wenger chairs will not suffice at any outdoor concerts that are not performed at the Plaza. Ryan will inquire from other sources, like Donnell-Weigand Funeral Home, to borrow their chairs that will be needed for the Memorial Day concert and the 250th USA Birthday Gala.

Band members will be encouraged to park in the Dairy Queen parking lot or the municipal parking lot behind the college during concerts. This will leave ample parking space for the concert attendees to use during the concerts.

We will no longer have a need for a Band Banner for advertising since the City Plaza can display our concert dates on the digital screen. We will also rely on social media, WGEL and possibly The Greenville Advocate to promote our season.

Shawn Cox will contact the United Methodist church to reserve our concerts during inclement weather and for the Fourth Fest on July 4th at 5:00 pm.

6. SET NEXT MEETING DATE & TIME

7. ADJOURNMENT
