City of Hamilton City Council met March 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1.            ROLL CALL

The Hamilton City Council met in regular session 7:00pm at the Hamilton City Hall. Attending were Alderman Andrew Asbury, Tommy Buckert, Brandon Wilson, Debbie Summers, Beverly Boone, and Clerk Michelle Dorethy. Mayor Bocephus Casey and Alderman Steve Schlatter were absent.

2.            PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Summers led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance

3.            MINUTES OF February 16, 2026

Wilson made a motion to approve the minutes of the February 16th council meeting. Boone seconded the motion. Roll was called with Asbury, Buckert, Wilson, Summers, and Boone voting aye.

Motion carried.

Vote results:  Ayes: 5 / Nays: 0

4.            WELCOME VISITORS

Cheryl and Mike Luth reported to the Council that they have contacted the ASPCA and PETA groups and are making progress on rehoming some of the stray cats.

5.            FINANCE & APPROPRIATIONS   

Summers gave a report of the Finance Committee meeting that was held on February 25th.

a.            Selected Check Registers

Summers made a motion to approve the Selected Check Registers. Wilson seconded the motion. Roll was called with Buckert, Wilson, Summers, Boone, and Asbury voting aye.

Motion carried.

Vote results:  Ayes: 5 / Nays: 0

6.            HEALTH & SAFETY

Asbury gave a report of the Health and Safety Committee meeting that was held on February 25th

7.            BUILDING & GROUNDS, PERMITS & ZONING:          

a.            Building/Demolition Permits

Buckert made a motion to approve the following building and demolitions permits.

  • Demolition of carport at 460 South 16th to Mike Doyle
  • Enclosed porch at 770 North 7th to Roger McDermot
  • Solar Farm at Hwy 136 E & County Road 1000 North to Hamilton Sun LLC (pending payment of permit)

Wilson seconded the motion. Roll was called with Wilson, Summers, Boone, Asbury, and Buckert voting aye.

Motion carried.

8.            PUBLIC WORKS

Public Works Director, Ryan Brotherton entered the meeting at 7:30 pm

Buckert made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 pm. Wilson seconded the motion. Roll was called with Summers, Boone, Asbury, Buckert, and Wilson voting aye.
