Families from the region participated in the Second Annual Fishing Derby on June 14, hosted by State Senator Neil Anderson and Representative Norine Hammond at Giant Goose Ranch. The event attracted numerous children and their families for a day of fishing and outdoor activities.

Senator Anderson remarked, “It’s always great to see families spending time together in nature, especially when kids are learning new skills and making memories.” Representative Hammond added, “We’re fortunate to have a place like this in our district. It’s encouraging to see such a strong turnout and so many families taking part in the day.”

Giant Goose Ranch, located in Canton, provided an ideal setting with its extensive recreational facilities. The first 50 children received complimentary fishing gear from Wildlife Forever. Additionally, the Illinois Conservation Police presented a water and boat safety session. Awards were given for the biggest fish, most fish caught, and sportsmanship.
