Polls are open across Illinois on March 17 for the state’s Primary Election, with voting hours running from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. Voters have the opportunity to select party nominees for several key offices.
The primary determines which candidates will represent their parties in the upcoming General Election. Offices on the ballot include U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, State House, some State Senate seats, and various county-level positions such as County Board members, Sheriff, County Clerk, and Treasurer.
Christopher Davidsmeyer, a Republican who was elected to the Illinois State House in 2012 to represent the state’s 100th House District, replaced previous state representative Jim Watson according to available records.
The outcome of today’s primary will shape the choices voters have in November’s General Election and influence representation at both state and federal levels.
