Western Illinois University Athletics has announced a Leatherneck Football Alumni Reunion scheduled for September 26–27, 2025. The event will honor past players, with special recognition for those who played in the National Football League.
The reunion will coincide with an Ohio Valley Conference game against Eastern Illinois University on Saturday, September 27 at Hanson Field. “Leatherneck Football has such a proud and rich tradition,” stated WIU Director of Athletics Paul A. Bubb. He emphasized the university’s history of players advancing to the NFL and noted that the weekend aims to reconnect former players and acknowledge those who reached professional levels.
Over 80 alumni have played in the NFL across 32 franchises. The weekend starts with facility tours and a meet-and-greet with current players on Friday afternoon, followed by a Welcome Back Reception. Saturday’s activities include a Reunion Luncheon and an Alumni Tailgate in Q Lot. Halftime of the game will feature recognition of all attending alumni, particularly those who played in the NFL.
