Roodhouse plans to hold celebratory events throughout the year to celebrate its 150th birthday on April 20.

The town plans to throw an official party Aug. 4-7 that will include music, a play, a beer tent and other activities.

Last October, the town held a Quarter Auction to raise funds for this year's events. Items sold include 50/50 tickets, hats, T-shirts, a calendar and Jane Roodhouse’s journal, which Roodhouse wrote beginning with her family's arrival in the U.S. in 1830. You also can purchase these items at City Hall, Burrus Drugs and the Roodhouse Public Library.
