Jerseyville City Council met April 25.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The Jerseyville City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. in the Jerseyville City Hall.

Roll call: Present were Commissioners Gary Goetten, Steve Pohlman, Kevin Stork, Richard Perdun and Mayor Bill Russell. Also present was City Attorney Bill Strang.

Comm. Pohlman led the opening prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

A motion was made by Comm. Perdun and seconded by Comm. Stork, to approve the minutes of the last regular meeting on April 11, 2017, Roll call vote showed all ayes, no nays, motion carried.

A motion was made by Comm. Stork, seconded by Comm. Pohlman, to approve the bills as presented which totaled $159,713.75. Roll call vote showed all present voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

Council Approves Tourism Grant For “Got Faith”: A motion was made by Comm. Perdun, seconded by Comm. Stork, to approve a tourism grant request from “Got Faith” to support their events during the coming year in the amount of $2500. Roll call vote showed all aye, no nays, motion carried.

Council Approves Street Closure-Relay For Life 6/9/17: A motion was made by Comm. Goetten, seconded by Comm. Perdun, to approve closing Spruce St. from State St. to Washington St. on June 9, 2017, from 4:00 – 11:00 p.m. for the Relay for Life Event. Roll call vote showed all ayes, no nays, motion carried.

Carl Crawford Re-Appointed To TIF Advisory Board: A motion was made by Comm. Pohlman, seconded by Comm. Stork, to approve the re-appointment of Carl Crawford to the TIF Advisory Board for a 3-yr term to April 2020. Roll call vote showed all present voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

Tom Woelfel Re-Appointed To TIF Advisory Board: A motion was made by Comm. Goetten, seconded by Comm. Stork, to approve the re-appointment of Tom Woelfel to the TIF Advisory Board for a 3-yr term to April 2020. Roll call vote showed all present voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

Kenneth Breden Re-Appointed To Planning & Zoning BRD: A motion was made by Comm. Goetten, seconded by Comm. Pohlman, to approve the reappointment of Kenneth Breden to the Planning & Zoning Board for a 7-yr term to April of 2024. Roll call vote showed all present voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

Sale of Real Estate Tabled: The Resolution to sell real estate by the appraisal method was table until the appraisal is received.

House Donated For Fire Dept Training Session: Mayor Russell read a letter from Fire Chief Alan Gowin informing the Council of a donation of a house for training. A planned, live burning will be conducted by the City of Jerseyville Fire Department on May 13, 2017. The house, owned by Dave & Stacey Loellke, is located at 313 S. June St. and has also been used for search & rescue training.

Resident Thanks The Police & Fire Dept For Assistance or Mother/Son Event To Be 5/12/17: Resident, Paul Riechman, thanked the Police & Fire Departments for their help when his alarms went off during a storm and they helped solve the problem. Angela Sullivan reminded the Council that the Mother/Son Shindig would be held on Friday, May 12th. The registration deadline is May 4th for the event.

Closed Session Discussing Sale Of Real Estate & Personnel/ Resume Open Session/ Adjournment: A motion was made by Comm. Perdun, seconded by Comm. Stork, to go into closed session to discuss personnel and the possible sale of real estate. Roll call vote showed all ayes, no nays, motion carried. Open session resumed and a motion was made by Comm. Perdun, seconded by Comm. Goetten, to adjourn the meeting. Roll call vote showed all ayes, no nays, motion carried.
