McDONOUGH DISTRICT HOSPITAL: MDH Accepts Applications for the McDonough County Health Career Opportunities Program

Career

McDonough District Hospital issued the following announcement on Sept. 5.

McDonough District Hospital is now accepting applications for the McDonough County Health Career Opportunities (MCHCO) program, which aims to provide youth with broader exposure to health careers at the local and regional level.

Last year marked the inaugural year for the program, which saw 30 students from McDonough County high schools increase their knowledge of career options in the field of health, expand their understanding of career pathways, learn about the culture of health careers, and gain the opportunity to network with local health professionals who can support them in their career pursuit.

The program is presented by McDonough District Hospital in partnership with area high schools, SIU School of Medicine, and University of Illinois Extension.

All sophomore, junior, and senior students who have an interest in learning more about health careers are encouraged to apply. Applications have been provided to McDonough County area high school counselors, or can be obtained from MDH Volunteer Services Coordinator Meagan Wohlfeil by calling (309) 836-1579.

“After a successful first year, we are excited to once again offer this beneficial program to students, through a partnership between MDH, SIU School of Medicine, and University of Illinois Extension. Students have the opportunity to attend five exciting and informative sessions throughout the school year, hosted at McDonough District Hospital,” shared Wohlfeil.

Applications are due by September 14 and may be submitted directly to MDH Volunteer Services at mmwohlfeil@mdh.org.
