It was a strong spring semester in the classroom for Western Illinois athletics as members of the Leatherneck programs boasted an average grade point average of 3.253 this spring.
The average GPA of the Macomb campus was 3.161.
On top of the strong performance by teams, 28 individual student-athletes posted GPAs of 4.0.
Women's tennis led the way with a team-average GPA of 3.803.
Volleyball was next with a 3.709 while women's soccer had a 3.661. Women's basketball continued the strong accomplishments with a 3.581 with women's golf next with a 3.429 and women's cross country had a 3.413.
Women's track added a 3.32 with women's softball tallying a 3.311.
Men's golf was the top-performing male program with a team GPA of 3.231 while men's track and field was next with a 3.144.
Men's cross country finished with a 3.069 while men's soccer had a 3.014, football a 2.927, baseball a 2.923 and men's basketball a 2.578.
