Western Illinois women's tennis honored as ITA All-Academic Team

The Western Illinois University women's tennis team has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as a Division I All-Academic Team for the 2023-24 season. This accolade highlights the team's academic achievements, with a cumulative grade point average of 3.8, which is the highest among Western Illinois athletic teams.

The ITA awards this honor to programs that achieve a team GPA of 3.2 or above, ensure all student-athletes are listed on the institutional eligibility form, and include all varsity letter winners in the cumulative team GPA calculation for the current academic year.

In addition to the team recognition, individual players Paige Grice, Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza, Lucky Kancherla, and Agatha Carbonell were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. To earn this title, students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.5 and be listed on their institution's eligibility form.

In 2023, a total of 1,513 Division I Women's student-athletes were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes and 234 women's tennis programs received All-Academic Team distinction from the ITA.
