The Western Illinois women's golf team is set to compete in the Brittany Kelly Classic, scheduled for September 18-19 at The Players Club golf course in Yorktown, Indiana. This tournament follows their recent participation in the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial, where they finished 16th out of 17 teams.
Natalie Hooper led the Leathernecks with a 59th-place finish at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial. She managed to score eight birdies over the 54-hole event and was particularly successful during round two on the front nine. Olivia McCrystal, making her debut for Western Illinois, tied for 72nd place and maintained consistent scores across all three rounds.
Returning players Natalie Hooper and Olivia Kerr are expected to be key contributors this season. Both golfers participated in every match last season, with Hooper securing third place at the WIU Intercollegiate at TPC Deere Run.
The Brittany Kelly Classic will be held on a par-72 course spanning 6,226 yards. It will feature a three-round format, with two rounds on the first day and one on the second day. Competing teams include Ball State, Cleveland State, Dayton, Eastern Michigan, IUPUI, Loyola, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, UIC, UNC Asheville, Valparaiso, Western Illinois and Western Michigan.
Western Illinois' starting lineup for the tournament includes Natalie Hooper in position one followed by Olivia Kerr, Makayla Mussatto, Olivia McCrystal and Hannah Butler.
