Western Illinois University's women's golf team concluded their first spring meet at the BGSU Women's Invitational with a team score of +144, securing 14th place. The Leathernecks were led by Natalie Hooper and Makayla Mussatto, both tying for 67th individually.
Hooper, after a birdie-free first round, managed five birdies over her final 36 holes. She achieved three birdies in her last nine holes during the third round. Mussatto showed consistent improvement across rounds, finishing with an 80 in the final round. She recorded one birdie and ten pars in her third round.
The team's performance improved each round, starting with an opening score of 340, followed by 330 in the second round, and concluding with 326 in the final round.
The individual scores for WIU were as follows: Natalie Hooper and Makayla Mussatto both at +36 tied for 67th; Olivia Kerr at +40 in 72nd place; Olivia McCrystal at +42 tied for 73rd; and Hannah Butler at +44 in 77th place.
WIU will compete next at the ASU Spring Classic in Alabama this weekend.
