Western Illinois University recently completed its third spring tournament, securing the 11th position at the Butler Don Benbow Spring Invitational held in Oldsmar, Florida. The team concluded the event with a collective score of 652 (+34).
Olivia Kerr led the Western Illinois team with a notable top-20 finish. Kerr delivered consistent performances with consecutive scores of 79, finishing +7 over the two-day, 36-hole competition. She began strongly in the first round, making two birdies. On Tuesday, Kerr excelled on the back nine, achieving three birdies within six holes and managing back-to-back birdies on holes 15 and 16.
Natalie Hooper and Gabriela Galindo Rubio both recorded scores of +18, tying for 34th place. Hooper performed well in the first round by sinking a birdie on hole one followed by three consecutive pars. Galindo Rubio participated as an individual this week for WIU and managed to secure a birdie in the first round along with 11 pars in her second round.
The detailed standings are as follows: Olivia Kerr finished at +14, T20; Natalie Hooper at +18, T34; Makayla Mussatto at +21, T55; Hannah Butler at +23, T60; Olivia McCrystal at +33, ranked 91st; and Gabriela Galindo Rubio (individual) at +18, T34.
WIU will take a short break before they host their own event—the WIU Intercollegiate.
