Western Illinois golf team achieves strong finish at ASU Spring Classic

The Western Illinois Women's Golf team participated in the ASU Spring Classic on February 18 and 19, finishing in fourth place out of ten teams. Senior Natalie Hooper led the team with a top-ten finish, tying for ninth place and shooting 159 (+17). Despite initial struggles in round one, Hooper made a strong comeback with three birdies and four pars, ending the round at 80 (+9). In round two, she began with a par on hole one and added four birdies.

Gabriela Galindo Rubio also secured a top-ten position, tying for ninth place alongside Hooper with a score of 159 (+17). Rubio's first round included nine pars, resulting in an 84 (+13) score. She improved significantly in the second round with three birdies and nine pars, completing it at 75 (+4).

Makayla Mussatto and Mia Scrimgeour both finished tied for thirteenth place, each scoring 160 (+18). Mussatto's best performance was in the first round where she achieved eleven pars. Scrimgeour excelled in the second round with one birdie and ten pars.

The team will have a break of three weeks before competing in the Butler Intercollegiate event scheduled to take place in Tampa, Florida on March 11 and 12.

- Makayla Mussatto: T13 (+18)

- Olivia Kerr: 24th (+22)
