Western Illinois University's women's golf team concluded their participation in the Brittany Kelly Classic, securing a 13th-place finish. The event marked their second fall tournament and was held on Tuesday.
Natalie Hooper, entering as WIU's top golfer, led the team with a +14 finish. Hooper gained momentum during the latter half of her second round, achieving two birdies to shoot -1 over her final nine holes. In the third round, she maintained her form by scoring three birdies, including consecutive ones on holes 14 and 15, which helped her finish at +1 (73). Her performance on par fives was notable as she tied for second in average score for these holes during the tournament.
Another senior, Olivia Kerr, also delivered a strong performance in the third round. Kerr began with back-to-back birdies, putting her two under through her first three holes. Despite a double bogey, she managed to par 13 out of the next 14 holes, concluding the day at +1 (73).
The Leathernecks will take a break before returning to competition at The Big O Classic on October 2.
