Western Illinois University's women's golf team is set to participate in the ASU Spring Classic, scheduled for February 18-19 in Prattville, Alabama. The tournament will take place at the RTJ Trail course, which features a par 71 layout over 5,875 yards. This event will consist of three rounds, with the first two rounds on Sunday and the final round on Monday.
The team recently completed their initial spring tournament on February 13-14, finishing in 14th place. Natalie Hooper and Makayla Mussato led Western Illinois by both securing a tie for 67th position with scores of +36. The team's performance improved over the course of the tournament, starting with a score of 340 in the first round and ending with a score of 326.
Natalie Hooper aims to build upon her recent performance where she achieved five birdies over her last two rounds after a birdie-free start. Makayla Mussato also showed strong form during her best round, recording one birdie and ten pars.
The competition at the ASU Spring Classic includes teams from Alabama State University, Bethune-Cookman University, Chicago State University, Delaware State University, Samford University, Savannah State University, Southern University, Texas Southern University, Troy University, University of Illinois Chicago, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Western Illinois' starting lineup features Natalie Hooper at number one followed by Makayla Mussatto at number two. Olivia Kerr takes third position while Gabriela Galindo Rubio and Mia Scrimgeour complete the lineup.
