Western Illinois University has appointed Matt Rosado as the new head coach for its Track & Field and Cross Country programs. The announcement was made by Director of Athletics Paul A. Bubb.

Rosado joined the Leathernecks in August 2024 as the assistant cross country and track & field coach. In that role, he managed training plans for distance athletes, coordinated recruiting, and contributed to both programs’ competitive performances. He also served as interim head coach prior to this appointment.

Before joining Western Illinois University, Rosado held head coaching positions at Dakota Wesleyan University, Roosevelt University, and Calumet College of St. Joseph. At these institutions, he led teams to record finishes, set school records, and coached athletes who qualified for national competitions and earned all-conference honors. His teams were also recognized for academic achievement with All-Academic Team honors and high team GPAs.

Director of Athletics Paul Bubb said: "Matt has done a great job overseeing our cross country program for the past two years, and has stepped in and stepped up as the interim head coach. With the support of every group he met with during the interview process, I am confident he will do a great job as our new Head Coach."
