Western Illinois University junior running back Markell Holman has been recognized as the OVC-Big South Offensive Player of the Week after his performance in the team's 24-21 win over Lindenwood.
Holman rushed for a season-high 172 yards on 25 carries and scored a touchdown during the game. His efforts helped Western Illinois maintain offensive momentum against Lindenwood's defense.
In the fourth quarter, Holman secured a two-point conversion that gave Western Illinois a three-point lead. The team held onto this margin to secure the victory.
Holman's rushing total was not only his personal best for the season but also the highest by any Leatherneck player in a single game this year. He remains an important contributor to Western Illinois' offense as the season progresses.
