Western Illinois University’s softball team has announced its 2025 fall schedule, with all games set to take place at home in Macomb. Head Coach Alisa Goler stated that the Leathernecks will host eight teams from the tri-state area during the fall season.

The schedule begins on September 12 with a game against Rock Valley Community College and continues through October 12, concluding with Parkland Community College. Other scheduled opponents include the College of Lake County, Lakeland Community College, Spoon River Community College, Heartland College, Kirkwood Community College, and Danville Area Community College.

Fifteen players from last year’s team are returning for the upcoming season. The roster includes OVC Player of the Year Payton Brown, who led Western Illinois in home runs and RBIs last season. Brown finished with a .413 batting average and an OPS of 1.245.

Pitching coach Collin Hopkins returns nearly all innings pitched from last year’s staff. Lillie Wools led the pitching rotation with 29 appearances and six complete games.

Seven new players will join the squad for 2026, including three transfers and four freshmen.

Coach Goler commented on the upcoming season: “Western Illinois Head Coach Alisa Goler and the Leatherneck softball team announced their 2025 fall schedule. WIU will stay close to home this fall as they are set to host eight schools from the tri-state area.”
