The Western Illinois University track and field team announced on Apr. 2 that it will compete at the Pacesetter Sports Invitational, hosted by Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. The meet is scheduled for April 3-4 at Gibson Track & Field.
The event follows a successful performance by the Leathernecks at the Big Blue Classic, where Dana Surwillo led with a pole vault victory, Eason Comer and Lily Patterson won the 3,000-meter steeplechase events, and Finley Hancock secured first place in the 800 meters.
According to the official website, the Western Illinois University Leathernecks Women’s Track and Field team participates in NCAA Division I competitions as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference according to the official website. The program operates from Macomb, Illinois according to the official website, and has built on a legacy of women’s athletics at Western Illinois University since the early 1900s while promoting growth and competitiveness according to the official website.
The Leathernecks Women’s Track & Field team earned All-Academic Team recognition from USTFCCCA in 2025 for their student-athletes’ academic achievements according to the official website. The program is part of Western Illinois University’s broader athletics department according to the official website and maintains a full roster for this season that includes both freshmen and upperclassmen athletes according to the official website.
Competing teams at this week’s invitational include Austin Peay, Ball State, Bradley, Butler, Chicago State, Cuyahoga Community College, Eastern Illinois, Indiana State (host), IU Indy, IU Kokomo, Marian (Ind.), McKendree University, Oakland City University, Parkland College, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Saint Louis University, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, Southern Indiana University, Valparaiso University,Vincennes University as well as Western Illinois.
