The Western Illinois University Leathernecks Women’s Tennis team concluded its regular season on April 11 with a 2-5 loss against the SIUE Cougars in Edwardsville. The team finished the regular season with an overall record of 6-12 and a conference record of 3-2.
This match marks the end of the regular competition for the Leathernecks as they look ahead to participating in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) tournament, scheduled to take place in St. Louis, Missouri from April 17 to April 19.
During doubles play, Mana Fawcett and Jessica Hess lost their No.1 doubles match with a score of 2-6, while Nadezhda Petkova and Nour Gueblaoui were defeated at No.2 doubles by a score of 4-6. In singles matches, Fawcett secured a win at No.2 singles (6-4, 6-4), and Richardlyne Francois won her match after three sets (2-6, 6-1, 1-0). Other matches saw Chloe Routier fall at No.1 singles (2-6, 3-6), Gueblaoui lose at No.4 singles (2-6, 2-6), Hess drop her match at No.5 singles (0-6, 3-6), and Petkova finish with a loss at No.6 singles (3-6, 0-6).
Western Illinois University Leathernecks Women’s Tennis competes as an NCAA Division I program according to the official website.
