Western Illinois women’s tennis hosts Saint Louis University after comeback win

The Western Illinois University women’s tennis team is set to host Saint Louis University at the Lakeside Recreation Facility in Galesburg on February 14, 2026. This marks the third season under head coach Luke Ogren. Last season, the Leathernecks posted a 12-9 overall record.

In their most recent match, Western Illinois secured a 4–3 comeback victory over Valparaiso on the road. After falling behind in doubles play, the team won four singles matches to clinch the win. Mana Fawcett and Nour Gueblaoui earned straight-set victories, while Chloe Routier came back after losing her first set. Nadezhda Petkova won a three-set match to secure the deciding point for the Leathernecks.

The current roster features eight returning players from last year’s lineup, including Richardlyne Francois and Chloe Routier, who played as No. 1 and No. 2 singles players last season. Other returning athletes include Mana Fawcett, Denver Johnson, Nadezhda Petkova, Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza, Chloe Routier (listed twice), and Anna-Evelina Trush. The team has also added junior Jessica Hess from Southern University.

Western Illinois University Leathernecks Women’s Tennis competes at the NCAA Division I level and is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference according to its official website. The program operates out of Macomb, Illinois and draws student-athletes from diverse global backgrounds. During the 2025 season, Western Illinois achieved victories against teams such as IUPUI Jaguars and Coe College.
