Western Illinois University’s women’s soccer team lost 5-0 to Illinois State on Thursday night in Macomb, Illinois. The Leathernecks were coming off consecutive losses against Drake and UNI but struggled to find any momentum offensively throughout the match.

Illinois State established control early by scoring four goals in the first half, making it difficult for Western Illinois to recover. The Redbirds finished with a significant shot advantage, outshooting the Leathernecks 27-2 overall and 7-1 in shots on goal.

The Leathernecks will attempt to bounce back in their upcoming game against Indiana State on Sunday. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Terre Haute, Indiana.
