The Bond County Community Unit School District (CUSD) No. 2 board approved the hiring of Chris Borwick as a computer teacher at Greenville Elementary School during a recent meeting.
Borwick was hired as a 0.4 full-time equivalent Current Events Through Computers teacher for the remainder of the 2015-16 school year. Borwick replaces Cassandra Holler, who has resigned.
The board also approved the hiring of Dennis Nance as a bus driver and accepted the resignation of Stephanie Tebbe, Greenville High School's football cheerleading coach.
A one-year union contract with the Greenville Educational Support Personnel Association also was approved.
Finally, members reviewed a draft budget reduction plan to curtail the district's deficit spending for the past four years, which has been depleting its reserves. Ideas from past and present superintendents, board members, other administrators, union representatives and others contributed to the plan, which aims to reduce expenditures from the Education Fund while maintaining educational standards and preserving jobs.
